Welcome to The Learning Herd.
The Learning Herd is a therapeutic horsemanship and wellness program at Hollow Valley Farm in Centre County, PA. With the help of our horses, we teach people how to build important life skills for stress management, increased focus, empowerment, communication, and personal growth.

What is Therapeutic Horsemanship?
Therapeutic horsemanship is a guided experience where people interact with horses from the ground in a safe, supportive environment to improve their physical, emotional, and mental well-being. It combines simple ground-work activities, structured exercises and a meaningful connection with the horse.
You don’t need any horse experience to participate. Sessions are adapted to each person’s needs and include grooming, training methods, leading, and calmly interacting with the horse.
Why horses?
Horses are highly intuitive animals. Forming a bond with a horse can help build trust, empathy, and meaningful relationships.
Who is it for?
It benefits people of all ages and abilities, including those with learning disabilities, developmental challenges, anxiety, and more.

About Lyndie Dubbs, M.Ed.
Lyndie Dubbs is an expert educator, horse trainer and seasoned mentor. She holds a Level II Instructional Certificate and an M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction from PSU.
She has been riding and training horses her entire life. She cares for the herd at Hollow Valley Farm, retrains OTTB's, and coaches adult riders.
She has extensive experience with students with learning disabilities and other exceptionalities. In her role as a STEM teacher, she forged a learning program for at-risk students that combined hands-on learning, personal growth and academic rigor.
